Bobo was surrendered to DFW French Bulldog Rescue after he was not playing nice with the toddler in the home. The situation was described as Bobo being behind a baby gate and when he saw the toddler across the room around his toys, he beelined through the baby gate to the child. We have been told that Bobo had previously gone after a child when he was younger and has decided he is not the biggest fan of children. We have also been told that Bobo enjoys his food and will resource guard his bowl after feeding time is over. Bobo has a history of Kidney Stones as well as IVDD, to which causes his hindlegs to be weaker than his front. Bobo was surrendered to our program with a prescription urinary diet so as we collaborate with our vet, we will see if he still needs this prescription. As Bobo gets settled into the program, he will undergo extensive training to ensure the safety of the fosters, his foster friends, Bobo himself, and for any potential home he will live the rest of his days. Until then, Bobo has been doing well sleeping in his crate at night, notifying his foster parents when he needs to go potty, and so far has only showed love and appreciation for them.
05/05/2024 Update: Bobo loves his people and his people only. Bobo even with training will do best with a home without other dogs, other animals, or children. Bobo loves getting pets, playing fetch, and has been fattening up since being in rescue. Bobo needs a slower paced family who will love him for the rest of his days and will need to understand that another animals or kids will being present will stress him out and have him turn into fight mode. Bobo is on a prescription urinary diet that he will eat only after he gets his water. Setting boundaries and not allowing him to claim ownership of the food and water by doing scheduled mealtime vs free feeding has been keeping Bobo respectful of his people. Because Bobo’s history of IVDD, his back legs are atrophied and are weaker than his front - this however, does not stop him from running and chasing tennis balls. Bobo is ready to find his forever home, are you his lucky forever?
