Kylo is a big, fluffy boy whose story is rooted in misunderstanding, not malice. He was originally sold by a breeder and later returned after an incident in the home where he reportedly bit someone. The breeder then surrendered him to a local animal shelter, where—due to his bite history—he was unable to be adopted out. That’s when Kylo came into rescue.
Once in a safe, structured environment, it became clear that Kylo has specific boundaries, particularly around having his neck touched by people he does not know or trust. This response appears to come from fear and discomfort rather than aggression. With time, consistency, and respect for his space, Kylo has already begun to make meaningful progress. Extensive, ongoing work is being put into helping him build trust and confidence, and he continues to learn every day.
Kylo knows basic commands like recall and sit, and while leash manners are still a work in progress, he is improving with guidance and routine. In his foster home, he has done well with other dogs and shows a preference for calm, non-dominant companions. When his boundaries are respected and he isn’t pushed beyond his comfort level, Kylo shows his true self: sweet, happy, and deeply loving.
Because of his history, Kylo will only be placed in a home with children over the age of 10 and with adopters who understand that trust is earned—not rushed. He will thrive with someone patient, dog-savvy, and willing to continue the work he’s already started.
Kylo isn’t a “problem dog.” He’s a dog who needs understanding, structure, and the chance to feel safe. For the right person, he has the potential to be an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
